Matatū Names Squad for Global Youth Sevens Tournament
Matatū is proud to announce its squad for the upcoming Global Youth Sevens Tournament, a showcase of emerging rugby talent from around the world.
Held in Auckland from 19 – 21 December, the tournament brings together more than 50 of the world's top elite youth teams for two days of fast-paced, high-energy sevens action.
It’s a chance for our young wāhine to test themselves on a global stage, represent their regions with pride, and take the next step in their rugby journey.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for these young women,” says Solomona Paraki, Matatū Global Youth Sevens Coach.
“To play in a tournament like this, against international opposition, is a huge step in their development. It’s a chance to grow, to challenge themselves, and to represent their regions and Matatū with pride.
“We’ve got a great mix of talent from across the South Island – from Southland to Tasman – and we’re looking forward to seeing them come together and play with heart. It’s humbling to be part of their journey and to help create pathways for them,” says Paraki.
