Foodprint joins Matatū as Official Food Rescue Partner
Matatū is proud to welcome Foodprint, a female-owned and operated business focused on reducing food waste as an official partner for the 2026 Super Rugby Aupiki season.
Built on a shared sense of purpose, the partnership brings together two organisations committed to creating positive change: championing wāhine, supporting community, and building a more sustainable future for Aotearoa.
Foodprint’s mission to rescue surplus food and reduce waste aligns strongly with Matatū’s values both on and off the field. Through this partnership, Foodprint will support the squad with rescued kai throughout the season, while also helping to amplify the growth of women’s rugby across the South Island.
Michal the Founder of Foodprint says the partnership is deeply personal and purpose-driven.
“I’ve always been a big believer in you can’t be what you can’t see. Like us, Matatū are building something with purpose. Strong female role models across business, sustainability and high-performance sport are exactly what our next generation of girls needs to understand the world of possibilities ahead”
The connection to sport is one that extends beyond business. Having returned to organised sport later in life, Foodprint’s founder understands first-hand the impact it can have.
“As someone who returned to organised sport in my late 30s, I’ve experienced the benefits firsthand. I’m fitter and stronger, I’ve carved out real time away from work, and I’ve found a group of teammates I’m lucky to call friends.”
As part of their support, Foodprint will champion Matatū across its community and platforms – encouraging more people to follow the team, attend matches, and be part of the energy behind women’s rugby.
Matatū General Manager Sarah Munro says the partnership is a natural fit.
“We’re excited to welcome Foodprint into our Matatū whānau. Their commitment to sustainability, community and empowering wāhine aligns strongly with what we stand for. Partnerships like this help us grow the game while supporting our people in meaningful ways.”
With ticket giveaways and community engagement planned throughout the season, the partnership aims to connect more South Islanders with the team and the wider movement behind women’s sport.
Together, Matatū and Foodprint look forward to building a partnership that nourishes players, inspires communities, and drives positive change – both on the field and beyond.
