Solomona Paraki joined the Matatū environment in 2025 as Matatū Skills Coach, bringing extensive experience across both domestic and international women’s rugby programmes. His coaching background includes roles with Canterbury FPC, where he served as Head Coach across multiple seasons, as well as assistant coaching experience with Japan’s Nagato Blue Angels.
A highlight of Mona’s coaching career has been helping guide Canterbury to three consecutive Farah Palmer Cup finals, reflecting his strong understanding of the game and ability to build high-performing environments. Known for bringing innovation, honesty, care, and humour to his coaching style, he is passionate about helping players continue to grow and develop their skills.
Away from rugby, Mona enjoys exercise, golf, and the competitive challenge of online chess.
