Loose forward Sarah Jones returns to Matatū for the 2026 season, continuing her rapid rise through the South Island pathway. Originally a back for Tasman Mako, Jones made a successful transition to the loose forwards, where her physicality and work rate have quickly set her apart.

A standout performer at provincial level, she has developed a reputation as a strong defender and damaging ball carrier, while her move south to Otago has accelerated her development. Jones brings energy, versatility and impact to Matatū’s forward pack.
