Phillipa “Pip” Love remains one of the most respected and experienced players in New Zealand rugby, bringing world-class scrummaging ability and leadership to the Matatū front row. The powerful loosehead prop has been a cornerstone of both Matatū and Canterbury, known for her dominance at set piece and tireless work around the field.

Pip made her Black Ferns debut in 2014 and has gone on to earn more than 30 international caps for New Zealand. After missing selection for the 2017 Rugby World Cup through injury, she returned to help the Black Ferns win the 2021 Rugby World Cup on home soil — cementing her place among the game’s elite front-rowers.

A key figure in Matatū’s leadership group, Pip combines experience, professionalism, and physicality, continuing to set the standard for the next generation of players coming through the programme.
