Alana Bremner signs for 2023

Alana Bremner returns in Matatū colours for the 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki season, bringing massive experience to the South Island team’s line up.

The 25-year-old loose forward has racked up 50 appearances for Lincoln University (the first to do so) and 50 appearances for Canterbury. She was part of the Canterbury team who took out the Farah Palmer Cup in 2022, their fifth in six years.

Bremner was a foundational member of the inaugural 2022 Matatū side, a year in which she also made her Black Ferns debut against England in Exeter.

She took the field for the Black Ferns historic win against England in the final of the 2021 Rugby World Cup.

Blair Baxter, Matatū Head Coach, said Bremner “carries huge mana within the Matatū group”.

“She’s a consistent performer who understands this team and our ambitions, and empowers others to be their best,” Baxter said.

“She’s a great role model and a massive asset to have back in the mix for 2023,”
