Matatū stars shine in 2025 NZ Rugby award nominations

The best of New Zealand’s national and international rugby talent has been recognised in the final round of nominees for this year’s New Zealand Rugby Awards - and we’re proud to see some of our incredible Matatū players in the mix!

After an outstanding 2025 campaign, Amy du Plessis has been named a finalist for Sky Super Rugby Aupiki Player of the Year. Amy, who also received our Aoraki Player of the Year award this season, is known for her blistering speed and ability to manoeuvre brilliantly across the field.

Joining her in the spotlight, Georgia Ponsonby and last year’s winner Kaipo Olsen-Baker are both contenders for the prestigious Black Ferns Player of the Year award. Georgia is the definition of consistency - a true leader in her position who brings stability and strength to every match. Kaipo, our Aoraki Player of the Year in 2024, remains a powerhouse on the field: powerful, impactful, and a game-changer when it matters most.

A huge congratulations to our nominees - all three players are leaders in their positions and have set the standard for excellence throughout the season. We’re proud and excited to see our own being celebrated on rugby’s biggest stage.

📺 Tune in to the New Zealand Rugby Awards live on Sky Sport, December 11th at 7:30 PM.
