Hannah King is one of New Zealand rugby’s brightest young playmakers and has quickly established herself within both the Matatū and Black Ferns environments. A talented first five with excellent game management, vision, and composure under pressure, King made her mark during a breakout 2024 season with Hurricanes Poua before joining Matatū in 2025.
After debuting for Canterbury in the Farah Palmer Cup in 2022, Hannah earned recognition as the province’s Most Promising FPC Player of the Year. Her impressive rise continued with Black Ferns selection in 2024, making her international debut during the Pacific Four Series and going on to feature in multiple tests, including appearances at Twickenham.
Still only early in her professional career, King has already earned a reputation as one of the game’s most exciting young first fives and was nominated for the 2024 World Rugby Women’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year award.
