Emma Dermody has become a key member of the Matatū forward pack, known for her athleticism, physicality, and consistency in the second row. Since debuting for Canterbury in 2021, Dermody has developed into one of the region’s standout young locks and has played an important role in both Canterbury and Matatū success.
A member of Matatū’s inaugural squad in 2022, Emma was part of the side that claimed the 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki title and has continued to grow her influence within the team each season. Her strong work rate around the field and reliability at lineout time have made her a valuable presence in the forward pack.
Alongside her provincial and Super Rugby commitments, Emma has also represented New Zealand Universities and Black Ferns XV, further highlighting her potential and standing within the New Zealand rugby pathway.
