Team Naming: Matatū v Hurricanes Poua

Matatū are back in Ōtautahi Christchurch this week in their second to last fixture of the 2024 Super Rugby Aupiki season. They kick off versus Hurricanes Poua at 4.00pm Friday 29 March at Apollo Projects Stadium, with the Crusaders kicking off against the Chiefs at 7.05pm.

It’s a huge Friday of footy and definitely not one to miss. Get your ticket now – one ticket, two games. How good.

Alana Bremner once again captains the side, pulling on the 8 jersey. The front row is a Black Ferns affair with Pip Love, Georgia Ponsonby and Amy Rule.

Emma Dermody and Laura Bayfield start at lock, with Kendra Reynolds and Lucy Jenkins rounding out the forward pack.

We’re looking at Maia Joseph at halfback and Liv McGoverne starting at first five. Martha Mataele and Chey Robins-Reti will be causing havoc on the left and right wings, while Grace Brooker and Amy du Plessis will occupy centre.

Rosie Kelly takes up fullback duties, bringing safe hands and a cool head to the last of the backline.

Atlanta Lolohea, Marcelle Parkes and Moomooga Palu stand ready to take over in the front row. Stacey Niao and Fiaali’i Solomona will also be eager to take the field off the bench. Winger-turned number 8 Solomona has been named in her first match day squad and is set to make her debut.

Di Hiini will slot into halfback when needed, while Charlotte Woodman and Winnie Palamo will no doubt insert speed and skill.

We’re home and pumped to play in front of our fans. Let’s pack the stands this Good Friday to witness the proof.
